A durian trip from Singapore to Johor

Johor Bahru is the closest place for Singaporeans to buy Malaysian durian, and farms further north in Johor take visitors. Go during the June to August or November to January harvests, eat at the stall or farm, and check the hand-carry rule before bringing fruit home.

Malaysia reportedly supplies about 85% of Singapore's durian. Johor grows much of it, and the state government reported over 214,000 tonnes a year in March 2026, with Tangkak, Batu Pahat and Segamat the largest districts.

Where to go

See our Johor sellers and farms. Kulai and Segamat have farms that take visitors, and sellers in Johor Bahru are the shortest trip.

Bringing it back

Eat it there if you can. Singapore allows a small, reasonable hand-carry quantity of fruit for personal use, and durian is not allowed on the MRT. See our rules guide.
